Why is it people refer to Ohio State as “THE Ohio State”? Is there another Ohio State University? I personally think they add the “the” in a pathetic attempt at telling the world their university is the best. Guess what Buckeyes? It’s not the best; not even close.
I absolutely cringe at the beginning of NFL games when they introduce the players, and the player says they’re from THE Ohio State University, with a huge emphasis on “THE”. Does the word make it anymore meaningful? Of course not, but I guess it makes them feel better about themselves.
My wife and I were watching Biggest Loser last night, and they were voting on two possible contestants for next season. The first girl said she was going to college at the THE Ohio State, and I just about vomited. I told my wife there was no way America would vote for her after making such an arrogant claim. I realize she’s proud of the school she’s attending, but nobody else really gives a shit; the other girl won.
I realize saying “The Ohio State” makes OSU fans, students, and alumni feel self-important, but the rest of the world is embarrassed for you.
I’d really like to see Julius Peppers playing for the Green Bay Packers, but I just don’t think Ted Thompson would ever pull off a deal like that. Kampman and Peppers rushing from the OLB positions sound pretty good to me. The Packers could trade #9 overall for Peppers, and maybe pickup another pick from Carolina….say a 3rd or 4th…..OR…they could trade Kampman and a 3rd or 4th round pick. I personally have my doubts about Kampman playing OLB in a 3-4 system, and Peppers clearly wants out of Carolina to play in a 3-4 system.
At some point, TT is going to have to take a chance on free agency, a trade, or moving up in the draft. I think it’s no coicidence that arguably two of the best Packers ever, Reggie White and Brett Favre, weren’t actually drafted by the Packers. Ron Wolf built through the draft, but he also took some chances, which seemed to pan out, and was the reason why he was so good at his job.
It’s plain and simple for Ted Thompson. One more losing season, and you’re fired!
The Badgers should be embarrassed. I will admit, Cal Poly was a lot better than I thought they’d be, but the Badgers almost got beat at home by a AA division football team. Actually, in my eyes, they did get beat. If Cal Poly’s kicker didn’t miss one those two missed extra points, the Badgers would have lost the game. Alvarez better do some soul searching and figure out what’s going on with the football program, or even he and his statue will be run out of town. I partially blame coaching, but you also have to blame recruiting. They simply don’t have the elite players they’ve had in the past. The question a lot of people are asking is, can Bielema win when it’s just the players his people have recruited. My guess is Alvarez will stick with Bielema, even though he sucked a big fat egg this season. Let’s hope for the best. Let’s hope the Badgers can bounce back from an embarrassing season that ended by almost getting beat at home by a AA division football team. That sounds bad, doesn’t it? That’s because IT IS bad!

Will the next Raiders’ head coach to-be-fired please stand up? If I were a Raiders fan, I’d be just pissed right now. For years now, Al Davis has taken a team, which has a very loyal fan base, and has turned that organization into the laughing stock of the NFL. I’m not saying firing Kiffin was the wrong thing to do, but you have to question an owner that has gone through four coaches in six years. You also have to question his sanity when it comes to personell decisions. I don’t know why, but when I think of all-time flubs, I always think of Al Davis taking a kicker, Sebastian Janikowski, in the first round. Who does that? The answer is nobody, but Al. I guess Lane Kiffin had some issues with some of the personell moves this offseason, and rightly so. They paid an insane amount of money for Tommy Kelley and Javon Walker. Walker can’t stay healthy, and hasn’t a decent year since he was playing for the Packers. Kelley is good player, but they paid him WAY too much money. If Al Davis has alzheimers, I sincerely apologize, but the man has lost his marbles, and it’s about time he sell this team. I suggest he sell the team to the fans. I think we all realize Al isn’t going to sell this team, and will own it until the day he dies. I’m not sure when that will be, but it will be the day Raiders’ fans have reason to celebrate.
