I’m sure I’ll eat hamburger again, especially since I love a thick and juicy medium rare cheeseburger, but this is scary. I find it even more disturbing that some of this meat came from Butler, Wisconsin!

Then her diarrhea turned bloody. Her kidneys shut down. Seizures knocked her unconscious. The convulsions grew so relentless that doctors had to put her in a coma for nine weeks. When she emerged, she could no longer walk. The affliction had ravaged her nervous system and left her paralyzed.

Ms. Smith, 22, was found to have a severe form of food-borne illness caused by E. coli, which Minnesota officials traced to the hamburger that her mother had grilled for their Sunday dinner in early fall 2007.

My wife and I love Italian food, but we don’t eat it very often because of the amount of carbs in the noodles. We switched to wheat pasta, which is better, but there’s still a lot of carbs. The wife found these tofu noodles, which looks just like regular spaghetti. I wasn’t too thrilled about trying it, but I sucked it up, and I have to say, they’re not too bad. The taste is just like regular noodles. The only thing that is different is they are little rubbery, but it’s not too bad.

We pour them out of the bag into a colander so we can wash the noodles. The noodles have a bad smell to them when they come out of the bag. We then put them in a non-stick frying pan and cook them until they’re warm, but not browned. Otherwise, you can boil them like regular noodles for about 3-5 minutes. We’ve noticed they’re less rubbery when we cook them longer.

The best thing about these noodles is we get to eat Italian food much more often, and we don’t feel guilty about it….
