Packers should try free agent market

February 25th, 2008 No comments

I’m not a big fan of acquiring players via free agency, but this might be a year Ted Thompson might want to try and find a player or two. For starters, the Packers are no longer a team that’s rebuilding. The Packers are a team with few needs, and may only be a player or two away from doing something Super. The one player that comes to mind is Asante Samuel. Asante is a really good corner that has a lot of good years ahead of him. Samuel, Al Harris, and Charles Woodson would be one hell of a group of cornerbacks. Harris and Woodson are both over 30, and if they drafted another CB, they’d be sittin’ pretty. In my opinion, you can never have enough corners in the NFL. Also, the Packers currently have over $20 million in salary cap space, they could front-load a contract, similar to what they did with Woodson, and they’d be sitting in good shape for years to come.

Jordin Sparks, American Idol reject, lip syncs National Anthem

February 4th, 2008 No comments

The announcer says, “performing the Star Spangled Banner”, not lip syncing it. Why can’t the NFL find a singer that can actually sing the damn thing? If there’s any song in the history of songs you should never lip sync, it’s our nation’s anthem. It proves Jordin is just another American Idol reject, and that she’ll never amount to squat. Truly pathetic….

Big Ten Network destroying fanbase

January 15th, 2008 No comments

Big Ten Network

I realized this past weekend that I haven’t been much of a Badger basketball fan, and nor have my parents. In the past, my parents have been HUGE Badger fans. They’ve tried to attend as many games as possible or would watch the games on TV. They still watch the Badgers when they can, but they also aren’t as enthusiastic as they once were, and it’s due to the 20+ games being shown on the Big Ten Network. When games are on the BTN, they are forced to hear about the game the next day, and aren’t as emotionally involved with the team, and don’t want to be. I kind of felt the same way during the football season. Why should I get emotionally involved when I don’t know from one day to the next which games I’ll be able to watch.

The fact is, the Big Ten Network is destroying each school’s fan base.

Cheater, Belichick voted coach of year

January 4th, 2008 No comments

billbelichick-cheater.jpg

Is Bill Belichick a good coach? Yes. Should a good coach who was caught cheating win coach of the year? No.

To me, the coach of the year award has to do with not only being a good coach, but it also includes dealing with adversity. Of course I’m a little biased, but I think Mike McCarthy, or maybe Dick Jauron, deserves this award over Belichick. Yes, the Patriots did go 16-0, but they hit that mark with a great roster which includes a QB that threw 50 TD’s this season, it required very little adversity, and let us not forget, they cheated. McCarthy surprised everyone with the way he had the Packers playing this season. And Jauron’s team, they didn’t have a great season, but they were more or less destroyed by injuries, yet he had them playing some pretty damn good football.

Instead, for coach of the year, we have a CHEATER! Why? 16-0 is the only reason why, regardless of cheating and the lack of adversity. The NFL and Bill Belichick, shame on you.

Jessica Simpson is a Packer fan

December 19th, 2007 No comments

I’m starting to wonder if Jessica Simpson is really a Packer fan. She seems to have shown up in Tony Romo’s life just in time for the playoffs. Woohoo! She went to her first game, which just so happened to be Romo’s worst game statistically to date. T.O. is starting to shoot his big mouth off about it, and there are rumblings that more Dallas players are upset about Simpson. If this continues, the Cowboys won’t even make it to the NFC Championship, let alone the Super Bowl.

Is Jessica a Packer fan? I doubt it, but she just may help out the Packers this post-season. Thanks Jess!

Big Ten Network ruins Badger Football finale

November 25th, 2007 No comments

Big Ten Network

The Wisconsin Badger’s football team ended it’s regular season with over 50% of Madison not being able to view the game since it was on the dreaded Big Ten Network. I just never imagined 4 out of the last 5 games would be on the BTN.

The BTN promotes their network as if it’s a good thing for the Big Ten, but in fact, that couldn’t be farther from the truth. The truth is they want to over-charge for a handful of second rate football and basketball games. Yes, they’re showing sports like field hockey, volleyball, and other sports, but what kind of ratings are those getting? I doubt those ratings are worth a damn. So, in essence, the BTN is over-charging for only a handful of games.

Mike Shanahan should be fired

November 25th, 2007 No comments

I think it’s time for for the Denver Broncos to get rid of Mike Shanahan. Shanahan has done some great things in Denver over the years, but regardless of the talent of a coach, sometimes it’s time for a coach to move on. It reminds me of when Mike Holmgren was coaching in Green Bay. I think everyone knew it was time for Holmgren to move on, even though Green Bay residents just named a street after him.

I think it’s time to give a new coach a shot at developing Jay Cutler. The only thing Shanahan has done the last few years on a consistent basis is to continue to provide a decent running game with second-rate running backs.

The team reminds of the last few years of the Mike Sherman era in Green Bay. Zero depth, too many failed free agent pickups, and terrible draft decisions…ex: Maurice Clarett. This team needs to unload the old farts and reload this team with some young talent.

Lastly, I’d like to know who’s idea it was to punt the ball to Devin Hester? This alone should get Shanahan fired. I mean, how stupid do you have to be?

Big Ten Network Sucks

This will be the third weekend in a row where the Badgers have been on the Big Ten Network, and I won’t be able to watch the game. BOLLOCKS! I’ve gone from being pissed to very disappointed. I’ve been become such a huge fan over the years that I’m starting to wonder if it’s time to find another team to follow. The fans have been left out to dry by the Big Ten Network and companies like Charter, and I don’t know about other fans, but I won’t be quick to forgive if and when I ever get the BTN. Anyone selling BTN sucks t-shirts? I want one!

Fuck You Big Ten Network

September 15th, 2007 No comments

It’s 11:39, the Wisconsin/Citadel game is underway, and I can’t watch my team because it’s on the Big Ten Network. The Big Ten Network and anyone that supports BTN, can take a shit train to fuck off. You money grubbing bastards have forgotten about one important thing, and that is the fans. Who’s idea was it to start this lame-ass network anyway? You can keep pointing the finger at networks like Charter, but it’s YOU that is over-charging for the network, and demanding that it be on a basic package.

Let the protests begin!

NFL should ban Vick for life

August 23rd, 2007 No comments

I was wondering when race would become an issue with the Michael Vick case, and leave it to the NAACP to throw the first punch…

“An NAACP leader said Michael Vick should be allowed to return to the NFL, preferably the Atlanta Falcons, after serving his sentence for his role in a dogfighting operation.”

I think everybody knows the NAACP says things like this for publicity purposes, but this is ridiculous. The NAACP should bow their heads in shame for even thinking Vick deserves to be allowed to play in the NFL again. This is NOT a race issue, this is an issue of humanity. Vick was involved in some terrible crimes, and the NFL should take the appropriate action. I don’t think the NFL should necessarily make an example out of him, but the appropriate punishment for the crime seems fit, which is to ban him for life.

Stephen Marbury’s comments…

“We don’t say anything about people shooting deers and shooting other animals, you know what I mean? From what I hear, dogfighting is a sport. It’s just behind closed doors and I think it’s tough that we build Michael Vick up and then we break him down … I think he fell into a bad situation.”

First, it’s “deer”, not “deers”. Secondly, while hunting does kill animals, it’s serves a purpose, to a) control the population of animals, and b) a food source. Hunters don’t breed animals for purpose of fighting each other. The also don’t hang, drown or electrocute the animals. There is a HUGE difference between dog fighting and hunting, and if you don’t believe me, do a little research online.

I think the thing people are forgetting, is playing in the NFL is a privilege. Michael Vick is a big-name player, and is looked up to by many people, including a lot of kids. How many children have Vick jerseys? It makes me sick to my stomach to even think about it.
