I realize this has been a bad Winter, but what is the deal with the roads being so awful? I feel like the last month or so the snow removal folks have given up. I’m not knocking the workers that have been busting their ass all Winter, but we had a storm Sunday, I couldn’t get into to work yesterday, and barely made it today. I don’t even think they’ve plowed, salted, or put gravel down in my area. I tried to get up the S. Gammon hill that goes up to Raymond Road and had to back down it…two days after the storm! Midtown Road doesn’t even seem like it’s been plowed and looks excellent for ice skating. Another good ice skating rink is the intersection of Raymond Road and Whitney Way. It took me an HOUR to get to work today!
Also, when it was raining Sunday morning, why weren’t there salt/gravel trucks out being a little more proactive? Instead, Madison roads turned into pure ice. You can argue that it’s too cold for salt, but my place of employment put down salt in their parking lot and it’s melting. Again, I realize the Madison snow removal crew has had one hell of a Winter, but come on, step it up!!!
We should have known better than to purchase a large TV through a big box but at the time, needing instant gratification, we did. That has been our biggest regret since. The 36″ Panasonic has now been out of commission since a week before Thanksgiving–07! We called corporate, they set up a service tech, he came out and didn’t know what was wrong with it. He made a guess at a part rescheduled another service time, came out and it was the wrong part. He ordered two more parts and scheduled yet another service call to which he was so late that we had to go back to work. He had the audacity to put a little tag on our door saying that he was sorry he missed us, we were supposed to be there. Well we needed to go back to work to make money to buy a new TV elsewhere. We called corporate that night and I sat on the phone for nearly an hour 3/4 of it on hold waiting for a manager to speak with me about this situation. She could only rectify the situation by scheduling yet another appointment which got canceled due to the parts not all being in–it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize that the parts weren’t in therefore they would not have been in on the day that the tech stood us up. We were told we would be contacted again when the parts were in……..that was the week before Christmas…..by the way, it is now the middle of February. I called the Best Buy store located near my house. The only shining light of this whole debacle is that Lindsay was exceptionally helpful and got us scheduled for a tech to come out and fix our TV. She had them schedule an appt. for Feb. 23 but if they could come today, Feb. 16, they would call us and let us know. We received a call on Thursday, letting us know that in fact, someone would call us between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. letting us know when a tech could come out. At 9:30 I called and was told that they have an hour grace period before contacting our tech. GREAT. I called back at 10 a.m. only to be told that there is no tech available today and we need to reschedule.
I don’t think I have every received this atrocious service–EVER. I am curious to know if corporate understands that you can put all of this money into your fancy “Corporate Campus” but if you can’t service worth shit than how do you expect to retain customers. I am now to the point where I am planning on reporting you to the Better Business Bureau as well as contacting Panasonic to let them know that their distributor is running their name through the mud. If I was Panasonic, I would think twice before doubling my order with Best Buy.
A few months ago we had officer Joey Williams, now we’ve got officer Salvatore Rivieri. He handled this so poorly, I don’t even have words for it. He was definitely on some type of power trip. Salvatore not only disrespected the police force, he disrespected the city. Salvatore was right about one thing, he’s not a “dude”, but he’s also not a “man”. He is what I like to call a “douche bag”. Also, why is this “douche” getting paid time off? Seriously, why do police departments have to take months to investigate? You watch the tape, and then you fire the “douche”.
Barack Obama is speaking tomorrow night at the Kohl Center. I highly suggest you get your butt down there and see our future president. Doors open at 6:15 pm, speech is approximately at 8 pm. No bags, signs or banners. Staffing volunteers also needed: 294-6775
The Capital Times is ditching the environmentally unfriendly medium of newsprint, and will be transitioning to their already popular website. I personally think this move is a little premature since there is still a very large number of people that enjoy their newspaper. My guess is their numbers have gotten so bad, that this is more of cost cutting move. They will save money on printing the paper, but I also believe the move to online-only will also result in a lot of cutbacks, especially if they see a lot of “red”.
I applaud the Capital Times for making such a bold move, and plunging head-first into a new era of journalism for the paper. Unfortunately, I see a lot of people losing their jobs.
I just don’t get it. Why are people voting for Hillary Clinton? Are they a gluten for punishment, or were the last eight years with GW not bad enough? It’s funny, the people that say they’re voting for Hillary typically have two reactions: 1) they’re voting for her because she’s a woman, and 2) they just look at me with a blank stare. Neither are good reasons. Some may argue she has more experience, but that just isn’t true. The truth is, they have no good reason for voting for Hillary Clinton, and deep down, they probably just want Bill back in the White House again.
I personally think, she is, BY FAR, not the best candidate, regardless of her gender. Before you vote, do yourself, and this country, a favor and do a little research. I hate to say it Dems, but if Hillary wins this primary, McCain will be the next president. I believe many of the voters that would typically vote Democratic, will go with the Republican, yet somewhat liberal, choice of McCain, including myself. I WILL NOT VOTE FOR HILLARY.
The announcer says, “performing the Star Spangled Banner”, not lip syncing it. Why can’t the NFL find a singer that can actually sing the damn thing? If there’s any song in the history of songs you should never lip sync, it’s our nation’s anthem. It proves Jordin is just another American Idol reject, and that she’ll never amount to squat. Truly pathetic….
I’ve decided I’m voting for Barack Obama. I like everything that he has to say, he seems like a good person, and most importantly, he seems like the best candidate. I also like John Edwards, but he has zero chance and should bow out now. The question is, who will the Edwards voters vote for? My guess is Obama.
There is no chance in hell I’d ever vote for Hillary Clinton. Not because of her gender, but because I think she’s not a good candidate and she’s running a dirty campaign. The people that are actually voting for her right now seem to be women who, rightfully so, want a woman in the oval office, and/or people who really just want Bill Clinton to be their president.
If Hillary wins the democratic vote, I can’t believe I’m going to say this, but I might have to vote for a Republican, especially if McCain is in the race. That sounds so sacrilege, but that’s how strongly I feel about Hillary Clinton’s shortcomings. I don’t think she’d be as bad as GW, but it would be the next worse thing to happen to this country. It’s time for change, and it starts with Obama.
I realized this past weekend that I haven’t been much of a Badger basketball fan, and nor have my parents. In the past, my parents have been HUGE Badger fans. They’ve tried to attend as many games as possible or would watch the games on TV. They still watch the Badgers when they can, but they also aren’t as enthusiastic as they once were, and it’s due to the 20+ games being shown on the Big Ten Network. When games are on the BTN, they are forced to hear about the game the next day, and aren’t as emotionally involved with the team, and don’t want to be. I kind of felt the same way during the football season. Why should I get emotionally involved when I don’t know from one day to the next which games I’ll be able to watch.
The fact is, the Big Ten Network is destroying each school’s fan base.
Yes. I have no doubt it was a calculated event. I believe her campaign felt she was slipping after getting destroyed in Iowa and needed a momentum swing. Obama and Edwards rattled her and made her look like a bitch, so crying was a means of showing her sensitive side, and it made other women feel bad for her.
She cracks up, but her face doesn’t look sad, and she doesn’t look tired as she says. The only thing she’s good at is bad acting. Do you notice what she says when she pretend cries? She says, “I have so many opportunities for this country”. I find that sentence a little odd. Shouldn’t it be, “we have so many opportunities for this country”?
Oh, poor Hillary, she was picked on by the big bad bully MALE candidates. Give me a break! Come on people, don’t fall for this lame attempt at winning votes. I want to vote for a mentally strong candidate that doesn’t crack under pressure. In Iowa she snapped, and in New Hampshire she cried. What’s next?
