Officer Joey Williams is a jackass

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

I think all of the kids should have ran. After he started choking Jarad, I’m thinking one of them should have hit him over the head with one of their skateboards, acting purely in self-defense of course. This cop should be ARRESTED and FIRED! He’s currently on administrative leave of absense. Who’s laughing now Joey?

Smokin’ with Superman reunion!

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

I just found out this morning that all members of Smokin’ with Superman have agreed to a reunion show sometime later this year. The date and venue is yet to be determined, but it’s definitely going to happen. SWS’s last show was June 29th, 2004.

20 Reasons for a new website

Tuesday, June 19th, 2007

I’ve been working on a new website for 20 Reasons Taken, which just went live today. There are a lot of features I plan on adding at a later day, such as blogs, forums, and more images, but one step at a time. We just really wanted something new before we played Summerfest and finished up our cd. Also, the Summerfest people posted samples from our upcoming cd on the website, so go to summerfest.com to hear it before it’s released.

Verona Hometown Days

Me and bunch of my friends went to Verona’s Hometown Days Saturday night to watch Super Tuesday. More than anything, we were just hanging out drinking beer. I had never been to Hometown Days, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Aside from the beer tent, there was a lot to do for all ages.

Super Tuesday started at 8:30. They’re a solid cover band, nothing special as far as musicianship is concerned, but entertaining all the same. I noticed they kind of draw a non-diverse crowd of heavy beer-drinkers, which is good for a community like Verona. It reminded of a crowd you’d see at a “new country” concert…..very white, and slightly redneck. They took one break, which is when the fireworks took place. Right before the finale, there was an explosion of sorts with a huge plume of fire shooting into the air. It may have been done on purpose, but it looked like something went wrong. Soon after, an ambulance was leaving the area, but they might have just been around for the fireworks.

One of the things that I noticed in the beer tent area, was there weren’t any security guards. The place was absolutely packed, yet there was nobody there to keep the crowd in line. The later the night got, the more drunk the crowd became, and the rowdier they got. There was a huge line of porta-potties, probably 30 of them, and drunks were trying to run across the top of them. I saw one guy fall of the back, which was quite a long drop, especially for some drunk with minimal lighting. The other thing I noticed was there were empty plastic pitchers everywhere, I’d say hundreds of them. Some jackass was going around smashing them. He was encouraging others to join in on the fun, saying how fun it was to smash one with his foot.

Either way, it was fun night. Next year: how about something other than cover bands?

New Chloe Pictures

We went up to Iron Mountain, MI over Memorial Day weekend, and took a bunch of pictures of the dogs, Chloe and Ella. We also visited the pound where we adopted them, which was an interesting visit. First, Chloe snuck out of the car, and right after that some redneck ladies made the comment, “why get another dog when you can’t control the one you have”. Real classy! We always keep Chloe on a leash, so it was just an honest mistake. Regardless, the workers at the pound were very excited to see them. The girls also learned to swim and enjoy the water that weekend, yet we seemed to have more fun watching.

20 Reasons Taken @ Summerfest

20 Reasons Taken is playing Summerfest on July 8th at 6:30 on the Zippo Stage. This is the first time I’ve played at Summerfest, so I’m pretty excited. I believe there’s free admission that day from 12-4, but don’t quote me on that. I’m also thinking I’m going to stick around and see INXS at 10pm.

Knocked Up

movie_reviews-1.jpg

If you want a good laugh, you have got to go see “Knocked Up“. It’s seriously one of the funniest movies I’ve seen in a long time. A classic! Forget the advertisements that say “from the maker of 40 Year Old Virgin”, because that move was awful, and clearly doesn’t do this film justice.

Two things:

1) Seth Rogen is this year’s Napolean Dynamite.

2) Katherine Heigl won’t be on Grey’s Anatomy for long, I fully expect her to move on to movies.
