Azzalinos

I went to a new bar this past weekend called Azzalinos, which was previously Bennett’s…..you know, Smut ‘n’ Eggs, Porn in the Morn. The new bar is awesome! First of all, they completely remodeled the bar, you can’t even tell it was that old run-down hole in the wall. It has kind of a 1930’s mobster feel to the place. I briefly talked to the owner, and he was a super nice guy. The best thing, is they have wooden bucks of beer. Not buckets of bottled beer, I mean a bucket of beer. You can either dip your glass in to fill it up or use the hose on the side. Anyway, do yourself a favor, go that new Peruvian restaurant on Park Street, and then walk down to Azzalinos for a few drinks.

SVT is in, SWR is out

SVTVR_LG.jpg

I’ve been bashing SWR a lot lately, but believe me, that is about to come to an end. I just bought a Ampeg SVT-VR and a 610HLF bass cabinet. I plan on replacing the grill on the 610 to match the VR head. I CAN’T WAIT! Instead of a Goliath 410 on top of a Big Ben 118, I’ll be pushing one 610 cabinet. I plan on holding on to the SWR rig for a while, so I suppose I could use the Big Ben along with the 610 if I had a big show….but we’ll see.

Rogans Shoes, “We got’em all, just not in your size”

I went Rogan’s Shoes this past weekend, and to no surprise, they had a ton of shoes I wanted to try on, but get this, NOTHING in my size. I mean nothing! I easily found over a dozen shoes I wanted to try on, but nothing in a 11-11.5. I guess I’m a gluten for punishment, because this is the third time in a row this has happened to me at this store. I left that place and went straight to DSW. I found a great pair Saucony running shoes for $40 in minutes. Rogan’s has a much better selection than DSW, but what’s the point if they don’t have your size.

SWR’s site down

Wednesday, April 18th, 2007

I’m really starting to wonder what is going on at SWR. This is the second day I’ve noticed their site being down. Ever since Fender took them over, their service has been awful. I talked to a local SWR dealer, and they had nothing good to say, including the fact they hadn’t received any product from them in over a year. As much as I love SWR bass amps, I’ve decided to find another amp. Currently, Ampeg and Aguilar are the front-runners.

Cho Seung-Hui was lowest form of life

shooter.jpg

It’s hard to find the words to blog about what happened yesterday at Virgina Tech. Very, very sad.

But, I do have some words about the shooter, 23-year-old Cho Seung-Hui. I don’t know what troubled him so badly to start shooting people, but that has got to be THE most cowardly act that I can think of. He kills a bunch people, and then doesn’t take responsibility for his actions by shooting himself. He doesn’t just kill people, he kills aspiring young kids trying to better themselves. What was he thinking? I wish they would have caught that bastard alive. That way, he could look into the eyes of the family whose lives he destroyed.

Could you imagine being his parents? I would be so ashamed and embarrassed of my son’s actions, I wouldn’t even know what to do with myself. There is no doubt in my mind I would disown him. I wouldn’t want to see him ever again. I wouldn’t go the wake, funeral, or even visit that coward’s grave.

Cho Seung-Hui, I hope you rot in hell you fucker!

Nickelback Sucks

Thursday, April 12th, 2007

This link has two Nickelback songs playing simultaneously, only to prove their music is about as original as a lump of shit.

Is it me, or does the singer look like the president from “The Hickhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”? The difference is the singer is a tool, and the actor plays a tool. No offense to the actor.

Jason Isbell leaves the Truckers

It’s a sad, sad day in “Drive-By Trucker” land. Jason Isbell has left the band. I always thought the trio of Jason, Cooley, and Paterson was just too good to be true. If any of them were going to leave, I always thought it would be Jason. Cooley and Patterson have been playing together for too long to leave the band. On a positive note, Jason gives me another great artist that I look forward to listening too. Hey Jason, need a bassplayer?
