20 Reasons Taken

Wednesday, March 28th, 2007

In 11 days, we finished up all of the drums, bass, guitars, and the vocals. We still have some backup vocals to finish up and maybe a few other things, but more or less, we have the bulk of the recording done. We’re mixing as we go, but we really officially start the mixdown until everything is done being recorded. It’s a bit crazy how fast we got this all recorded, but we really weren’t in any hurry, it just kind of happened that way. Plus, we wanted a very raw live feel to the album, so we didn’t want to mess around making it glossy. We’re going to take a week off and listen to what we got, and then go from there. Either way, we’re still on schedule to have this out before Summer, or early Summer.

20 Reasons Taken in the studio

Sunday, March 18th, 2007

The band I’m playing with, 20 Reasons Taken, has been in the studio since Thursday. Late last night we finished the last of 10 drum tracks, so we’re way ahead of schedule. I’m going into the studio this afternoon to lay down my bass tracks, which I’m guessing shouldn’t take too long, except we may have to clean up some drum tracks along the way. Not that we’re trying to rush the process, but it looks like we could have all of the recording done in about 2-3 weeks. We’ll probably need another month for mixdown, so we’re hoping to release this late April or early May. Of course, nothing ever goes as planned in the studio, so we’ll have to wait and see.

I just bought a new car

After this last big snowfall, I decided it was time to get rid of my Ford Ranger. A rear-wheel drive vehicle in Wisconsin is just insane. I bought my truck(2000) brand new from Kayser back in 1999, so I’ve gotten a lot of great miles out of it.

I was originally looking for an all-wheel or 4-wheel drive vehicle, but ended up with front wheel drive. I looked all over, and I believe I found a car that fits me perfectly. I got a Mazda3 hatchback. It’s smaller, drives like a sports car, and it’s a hatchback so it can carry all of my music gear. I’m waiting for them to get my car from somewhere in Minneapolis, so I won’t actually get it until next week.

Woohoo!

Ted Thompson is sitting on his hands

Friday, March 9th, 2007

I’m not a big fan of free agency, but it would be nice to see Ted Thompson do something! TT has quite a few holes to fill. I’m not sold there is a starting running back on the team. The tight ends are a joke. They need more depth at WR. They  also need a quality corner behind Harris and Woodson.

I believe in building through the draft, but he has the money to fill some holes in free agency, and he’s doing next to nothing. Again, I’m not saying he should go crazy, but it would be nice to see that the team is improving. I’m sorry, it’s just a little frustrating.
