Muhedin Abdulaziz should be euthanized

Wednesday, November 22nd, 2006

I was thinking Dan Hinkle was the clear-cut winner for the “biggest dumbass of the year” award, but Muhedin Abdulaziz seems to be giving him a run for his money. Muhedin Abdulaziz, an administrator at the old imperial Lion Zoo in Addis Ababa, has decided that it was too expensive to have two rare lion cubs in his zoo, so he had them poisoned. According to the article, there are only 1,000 of these lions alive in the wild. The zoo got $170/piece from a taxidermist for the carcasses. I find it hard to believe there wasn’t some organization or individual, including myself, that wouldn’t have been willing to give them a lot more then $340 for those lions. Muhedin Abdulaziz is an idiot.

Goose Hunting in Madison City Limits

Monday, November 20th, 2006

I was getting ready for work last week when I heard, “BOOM, BOOM, BOOM”. I used to hunt years ago when I was in my teens, so I knew that was the sound of a shotgun. Why would I be hearing a shotgun at 6:30am on a weekday? I live on the corner of MidTown and Gammon Rd., so my place is surrounded by Gammon Rd., MidTown Rd., Raymond Rd., and an empty corn field.

Anyway, I take off for work and see a hunter walking through the cornfield in his camo threads with a shotgun over his shoulder, less than 100 yards from my building. I don’t have a problem with hunters, but I was little disturbed at how close they were hunting to my home, not to mention the traffic going by on Raymond Road. I realize it’s farmland, but it’s farmland surrounded by suburbs, which includes homes, traffic, and people out for walks.

On another note, how can goose hunting in Madison even be considered a sport? You walk up to goose, shoot it, and then walk away with a dead carcass over your shoulder. It’s like shooting fish in a barrel.

Reveal5A_350px.jpg

Wow, what a week. I got a MacBook Pro with the Intel Duo Core 2 processor, a new Razr cellphone, and Tannoy Reveal 5A studio monitors. I just need a copy of Digital Performer, a Mackie Big Knob, and a new desk, and my home studio will finally be ready to rock.

I’ve been slowly piecing together a small at-home studio that is also portable enough for recording live shows. My studio more or less consists of a MacBook Pro, the latest MOTU firewire 828, a Focusrite Octopre with the ADAT interface card, and some Tannoy Reveal 5A monitors. I mostly on plan doing some live recordings, but would eventually like to put together my own CD, and may mixdown the next 20 Reasons Taken CD….we’ll see.

Daniel Fernandez Basses

I discovered Daniel Fernandez basses at TheLowEnd.net website, and they’re absolutely gorgeous. It’s not the ideal shape I look for in bass, but the craftsmanship is absolutely superb. If I could pick one bass I’d want to try out right now, this would be it, regardless of the fact I’m not a big fan of active pickups. I expect I’ll be seeing more and more bass players playing these things in the future.

Another Pee Wee Football Coach Incident

Wednesday, November 15th, 2006

The coach was warned multiple times for cursing in front of the kids, and then was finally thrown out of the game. The loser then decided to attack the referee, and it’s all caught on tape. This is supposed to be about the kids you idiot. I hope the referee presses charges. Also, what’s with the people not trying to help out? I saw people holding others back, like the coach deserved to be in a fair fight. That coach attacked a 18 year old ref from a pee-wee football league because he kicked him out of the game for repeatedly swearing in front of the kids(ages 5-6). Those people should have grouped together and got him under control until the authorities arrived.

When you watch the video, also watch for a woman wearing a dark blue number 59 jersey. She runs up to the pile and kicks a woman in the butt who looks like she’s trying to break up the fight. I’m hopeful the cops will also press charges against that piece of shit. Sucker-kicking someone only goes to show this woman is cowardice and hateful.

Did I mention this is supposed to be about the kids?

Why Major League Baseball sucks

Wednesday, November 15th, 2006

I didn’t say baseball sucks, I said MLB sucks, and this is why. It’s not necessarily because of the insane spending, but because there is no limit to the spending. If you don’t agree with me, you’re probably a fan of a team that spends a lot of money, like the Boston Red Sox or the New York Yankees.

There needs to be a salary cap. Of course, the successful teams don’t want a cap since they have money to spend because of their success and/or they reside in a large market. The teams that don’t have money to spend want change, but it doesn’t matter since the players clearly enjoy making tons of money, regardless of the fact it’s ruining baseball. I remember being mad at Carlos Lee for wanting such an insane amount of money to stay in Milwaukee, but if there’s a team willing to pay him the money, why not?

Baseball was once America’s game, but that has been overtaken by football, which has salary cap. The salary cap creates a level playing field so to speak, and makes the entire league more competitive. It makes teams rely more on coaching than just buying a new team. If there isn’t a change, you’ll continue to see teams in smaller markets, like the Brewers, struggle.

A Stupid Wisconsin Voted “YES”

Wednesday, November 8th, 2006

First of all, not everyone that voted yes for banning the gay marriage amendment isn’t actually stupid, but they are pretty ignorant. A friend of mine asked me if this amendment would pass, and I had no doubt in mind it would. How many people actually read the amendment? I’d bet that percentage is very, very low.

The conservatives planned this one out pretty well. They started by making the entire amendment confusing, first off my making the wording confusing. They want you to vote “yes” for an amendment that bands gay marriage, among other rights for unmarried couples, not just gays.

There’s a forum thread on madison.com that more or less sums up the ignorance behind the people that voted for this amendment. As you can see the main poster/homophobe is BossHogg, who just so happens to have a KKK flag as an avatar. The KKK is hate group, just like the group of people that shamefully voted in this amendment.

At least it’s a good day for the Dems in Wisconsin.

Dan Hinkle is a loser

N. Va. Boys’ Championship Dream Doomed by a Moment of Vengeance

Dan Hinkle, the commissioner of a boy’s football league, fires coach right before the playoffs because the coach played his son on the offensive line in the previous game. This means, these kids worked their butts off, got into the playoffs, and then didn’t go to the playoffs because their coach was fired by this asshole, Dan Hinkle. This man should be ashamed of himself. He let a great opportunity get away for these kids. He chose to be selfish and punished not only the coach, but he punished the kids, including his own son. Hinkle’s son will now be know for years as the son of the commissioner who stopped the kids from having fun. Good job Hinkle.

World’s Largest Skateboard Ramp

Bob Burnquist is CRAZY!

01ramp.1.600.jpg

“The wooden structure is longer than a football field, as tall as an eight-story building, with a creek bed running through a 70-foot breach.”

You gotta watch the video. He goes down this huge ramp to get speed, launches over this open area, which I’m guessing is where the creek is, does a 360, lands, and then gets some insane air off the half-pipe at the far end.
