How does Rush Limbaugh still have a job?

Friday, October 27th, 2006

How does this turd even have a job? Obviously, people do listen to his show, but I’m guessing it’s more for the shock value. His latest debacle involves him ripping on Michael J. Fox. Thankfully, Fox kept his composure and made Limbaugh look like a fool.

I don’t hate the man for any political reasons. Republicans and Democrats alike should despise this pill-popping turd. The man is an embarrassment to humanity.

The student section still sucks

Monday, October 23rd, 2006

I went the UW Men’s hockey game Saturday night, and I’m not sure why, but the student section was embarassing. The UW has earned some bad press with the UW marching band debacle, so an immature student section and nerdy pep band just irked the shit out of me.

It all started with the other team scoring a goal, and the students chanting, “You still suck” How immature is that? The students have been doing this when another teams scores for as long as I can remember, so I guess it’s a bit of a tradition. That tradition includes the band playing along with the rhythm of the chant. Hasn’t the music department endured enough negativity for a decade without acting like a bunch of sore losers?

Argus fast-fowards songs on jukebox

Monday, October 23rd, 2006

I was out last Friday night with some friends and ended up at the Argus. Me and one of the other guys plugged about $12 into their jukebox. First of all, their jukebox is expensive, but I didn’t care, it has a good selection and I wanted to hear some good music. I’m pretty sure most of our songs were done playing, but one of the songs that hadn’t played yet was a Pantera song. The song starts, an employee drinking at the bar complains, and then the bartender doesn’t even think twice and changes the song. Total bullshit! This has only happened to me a few times, once at the Brass Ring, and last Friday night at the Argus. If they don’t want certain songs played in their establishment, then they shouldn’t have it on their jukebox.

I yelled at them from across the bar and they didn’t even have enough balls to make eye contact with me. I’m pretty certain I was on the verge of getting kicked out for the stink I was causing, but if they had just said, hey sorry about that and handed me a dollar to play another song, the issue would have been resolved. Instead, the bartender chose to ignore us because he has no balls. That, and he probably didn’t want us to leave because we were spending a lot of money. I won’t stop going to the Argus because of their lack of taste in music, but if it happens again, they better expect for someone to be upset, and want their money back.

Two Upcoming Shows

We’ve got two shows coming up. I only mention it because it’s my first two shows playing with these guys.

Saturday, October 4th at the King Club

Thursday, October 9th at the High Noon

The band has been working hard to tighten up the songs, write some new material, and get our show in order. We’re definitely a band in transition, but I honestly believe the sky’s the limit with this group of musicians. If you seen 20 Reasons Taken before, expect to hear some of the same good ol’ 20RT songs, but some nice wrinkles added in here and there.

I wanted to push some more low-end with my bass amp, so I just purchased a SWR Big Ben 18″ speaker cabinet, which should move some serious air. It just arrived today, so we’ll find out in practice Sunday.

North Korean War Imminent

I have no doubt we’ll be at war with North Korea before Bush’s presidential term is over. The question is, when? I believe if we weren’t currently at war with Iraqi civilians, we’d already be bombing the shit out of Kim Jong’s backyard. There are two things that’s postponing this war, 1) our military is already stretched thin, and 2) how are North Korea’s allies going to react to an attack. If the U.S. can get China to agree that North Korea is in the wrong, the U.S. will have a green light to finally bitchslap that country.

My main concern right now with North Korea is it’s allies. If North Korea pushes to far, war is imminent, and if the allies stand by N.K., we could see world war lll, but I find that hard to believe. North Korea is nothing more than a small country led by a crazy man looking for attention, and I highly doubt Jong’s allies will stand by him as the greatest military power in the world bombs him back into the stone age.

SWR missing a few screws

I had my SWR SM-900 bass amp sent in for repairs over a year ago, and I finally get a call from Good ‘n Loud it’s back. Awesome! I go to Good ‘n Loud, we take it out of the packaging, and realize it’s missing most of its screws that hold the chassis together. We counted over 20 screws missing. Some of the screws that weren’t missing, weren’t even the correct screws. Some of them were silver instead of black, and a few were bigger and didn’t sit flush with the chassis.

Whoever sent that back to Good ‘n Loud has been smoking way too many drugs on the job, and should be fired for being such an idiot. SWR has some of the best bass amplifiers on the market, but I’m beginning to wonder if their customer service is nose-diving since Fender bought them. Either way, I want some results, and I want them now. I emailed SWR’s customer service and look forward to posting their reply on my website.

Badger Football Fans Snubbed, Again!

Saturday, October 7th, 2006

Seriously folks, what in the HELL is going on? This is the second game this year I can’t watch in my own home, except for on my computer, which is small, choppy, and low quality. On top of that, you have to have Verizon to see that game. I spend way too much money for cable tv just so I can watch the sports I want to watch. I’m not sure who’s in charge of how Badger games are broadcast, but some asshole needs to canned.

It’s not like this is some pre-season game, which I can ALMOST understand, but this is a Big 10 game against Northwestern. The UW Athletic Department needs to do something immediately. Mr. Alvarez needs to get off his ass make sure the Badger fans can watch the game, or there won’t be any fans.

So, now what am I going to do today?

I hate Internet Explorer 7

I hate Internet Explorer 7. I understand hate is pretty harsch, but it’s true, I HATE it. I’ve been working on a couple of sites, trying to get them ready for IE7, and let me just say, they better make some major improvements before they release this piece of crap. First of all, it handles cascading stylesheets in it’s own special way, and honestly must not care if breaks a majority of the world’s websites. The sites I’m working on have valid CSS according to W3C and works in every other browser, including IE6. Secondly, the user interface is awful, there isn’t even a menu bar.

A part of me is actually happy Microsoft is about to fail with IE7, but I do web development for a living, so I’m not happy about having to deal with their crappy products. A part of me wants to just ignore Microsoft’s products, but there are just too many people using Internet Explorer, but I think that is about to change with the release of IE7.

I’m stepping off my soap box.

Brittney Dolgner

Brittney Dolgner.

If you’re a UW Badgers volleyball fan, you either know her name already or you better be prepared to hear it a lot for the next four years. Dolgner is a freshman and if she’s not the best hitter on the team, she’s damn close to it…..not too shabby for a freshman, eh? I was watching her warm-up last night and it never donned on me that she’d even play until I saw spike and serve a few before the game. Brittney stands only 6 feet tall, but this girl can seriously jump and spikes as hard as anyone I’ve seen.

The sky is the limit for Brittney Dolgner, so I, and many other Badger fans, will watch her with great anticipation.
